Flow indicators with flat glass

Application:

Observation of medium flow in pipelines during the process. As the medium may occur:

  • water,
  • other neutral liquids,
  • food and aggressive liquids,
  • loose products.

We offer flow indicators of domestic production, made according to customer standards (size, materials), and also armatures made by European producers in accordance with DIN standards.

Construction:

Flow indicators with flat glass has a steel, welded, body with flat sight glasses placed opposite each other, embedded in slots sealed with flat seals. Flow indicators, depending on construction,  can be mounted to pipeline by using  bolted flanges, screwed onto pipeline or even welded to do pipeline.
We recommend using shut-off valves before indicator for quick and easy replacement of glass in case of its cracks.
To observe fluid flow with high transparency we propose to use the flow indicator with floating balls (see. below).

Flow indicator with flat sight glasses for welding type KL_P404 is used for observation of flow in pipelines. The ends of the flow indicator are made in a way that allows it to be easily welding into the pipeline. Round glass sight windows are made of borosilicate glass, which allows you to work at temperatures up to 300 ° C. Depending on the pressure, temperature and type of medium may also be used mica shield protecting viewing glass.

Flow indicator with bolted flanges

The flow indicator is adapted to be screwed to the pipe flanges. It is necessary to use appropriate gaskets, depending on the type of medium and its temperature.

Flow indicator with balls

Flow indicator with balls is intended to be mounted into the pipeline for observing the flow of fluid with high transparency. Inside the armature there is a perforated basket with balls. Flow of the medium causes movement of the balls. Moving balls indicate correct fluid flow.

The dimensions and materials of the flow indicator are selected depending on the medium and the dimensions of the pipeline.

Flow Indicators according to DIN

Type 390/390V/391 - one sight port

In fact, it is a sight glass, but it is sometimes used also as a flow indicator. Type 390 is intended to be welded into the surface of the pipe (horizontal or vertical) or vessel wall. It can operate at pressures up to 40 bar. Version 390V is designed to work with a vacuum. Type 391 is additionally equipped with a metal adapter (fitting) for easy welding it to the surface of the pipe.

Application
:

type 390 is a typical sight glass designed to weld the surface of the tank, the reactor pipe etc.  It is used to observation the process in the tank. It can also be used as a flow indicator, that is, to observe the flow of the medium (liquid, bulk materials) inside pipes, tanks, etc. 
Type 391 is a version of sight glass type 390 equipped with a profiled flange (pipe adapter) to facilitate welding to the surface of the tube. Only a matching opening need to be created on the existing pipe.

Both can be equipped with wiper.

Type 520/521/522/530/531/585 - two sight ports, two flanges

The most frequently used, a typical flow indicator, allowing observation of the flow of liquids and bulk materials into the pipeline, horizontally or vertically. Fixed with standard flanges (type 520). There is also a version with additional tube ends for welding in pipeline (type 521) and with female thread connection (type 522). Thanks special design of flow indicators type 530 (with flanges) and type 531 (for welding) it is possible to minimize the amount of liquid (bulk material) remaining on the surface of the glass when installed in a horizontal pipe. 

This type viewfinders can be used at pressures up to 1 000 bar.

With such high pressures may be used flow indicator with dual sight glass (type 585), wherein failure of one glass does not cause rapid discharge of the medium.

Application:

flow indicators of this type are used to observe the flow of the pipeline.
Type 520 is mounted using standard flanges. In a special version can operate at pressures up to 1000 bar !

There are also available variants of the flow indicator, such as:
- version with tube ends for welding in pipeline - type 521,
- version with female thread connection - type 522,
- version minimizes the fluid staying at the surface of the glass - type 530 (with flanges) and type 531 (for welding)
- version  with dual sight glass (safety) - type 585.

Type 550/551 - two sight ports, two flanges/threaded ends

Flow indicators allowing observation of the flow of liquids and bulk materials into the vertical pipeline. Fixed with standard flanges (type 550) DIN 3237. There is also a version with threaded ends (BSP (G) or NPT) for connection with pipeline (type 551). 

This type flow indicators can be used at pressures up to 40 bar and temperature up to 280 °C.

Application
:

multiport flow indicators enables you to create connections of pipelines and the observation of flow from many sides of the pipeline.
Flow indicator type 590 is fastened by three standard flanges. It has two opposite sight glasses (sight ports).

There are also other types of multi flanges flow indicator, such as:
- version with  three sight ports and  two  flanges for connection to the pipeline - it is a type 591,
- version with two sight ports and four flanges for connection to the pipeline - it is a type 595,
- version with four sight ports and two flanges for connection to the pipeline - it is a type 596.
