High-Temperature Sight Glass Type 326 for Demanding Applications

A recent project for a new customer from the machinery and plant engineering sector illustrates this impressively. The order included the development and manufacture of four high-temperature sight glasses of type 326, which were to be used for visual process observation on an existing vessel.

Challenges and Requirements

The central goal was to enable reliable process observation under extreme conditions. The existing vessel was equipped with a flange connection according to DIN EN 1092-1 Type 11 Form B1 in the nominal size DN 80, which was to serve as the interface. The specific requirements of this project were the high working temperature of +800 °C and the medium, which was hot exhaust air moving in the pressureless area.

The combination of high temperatures and specific process requirements made the selection of materials and the construction of the sight glasses a central success factor.
